The study concluded that digital communication lettering in terms of abbreviations, letterforms, and emoji/GIF is an excellent tool for managers across organizations, especially telecommunication companies, to grow their effectiveness in their job lines. The study found that: abbreviations have a high positive relationship with manager effectiveness in telecommunication companies in Rivers State letter forms have a moderate positive relationship with manager effectiveness in telecommunication companies in Rivers State, and emoji/GIF has a strong positive relationship with manager effectiveness in telecommunication companies in Rivers State. The hypotheses were tested using the Spearman Rank Order Correlation Statistical tool. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) Version 20.0 was used for the analysis. One hundred (100) questionnaires were distributed to the selected twenty (20) telecommunication companies in Rivers State, and the researcher was able to retrieve eighty-eight (88) copies. Crombach Alpha was used to determine the reliability of the instrument. The questionnaire was designed on a Five-point Likert scale and had the following response options: Very Great Extent (VGE) 5 Great Extent (GE) 4 Moderate Extent (ME) 3 Low Extent (LE) 2, and Not At All (NA) 1. A structured questionnaire titled "Digital Communication Lettering and Managers Effectiveness Index (DCLMEI)" was used. The purposive sampling technique, which involves picking the entire population, was adopted in this work. The study population consisted of selected twenty (20) telecommunication companies in Rivers State, Nigeria. The study adopted an explanatory cross-sectional survey research design. The study aimed to ascertain the relationship between digital communication lettering and manager effectiveness. The paper examined the effect of digital communication lettering on manager effectiveness in telecommunication companies in Rivers State. We delineated a roadmap for the implementation of visual conceptual blending and described resources that can help in such a venture, as is the case of a categorisation of emoji oriented towards visual blending. We established that visual blending should be grounded on the conceptual level, lead- ing to what we refer to as Visual Conceptual Blending. Overall, the purpose of our study is to explore how the representation of concepts can be done through visual blending. The experimental results obtained through multiple user studies indicate that the systems that we developed are able to represent abstract concepts, which can be useful in ideation activities and for visualisation purposes. In addition to the study of visual blending, we conceived and implemented several systems: a system for the automatic generation of visual blends using a descriptive approach, with which we conducted an experiment with three concepts (pig, angel and cactus) a visual blending system based on the combination of emoji, which we called Emojinating and a system for the generation of flags, which we called Moody Flags. We started by studying aspects related to the transformation mechanisms used in the visual blending process, which led to the proposal of a visual blending taxonomy that can be used in the study and production of visual blends. In this thesis, we focus on the computational generation of visual symbols to represent concepts, specifically through the use of blending. Its exploration has led to the development of several visual language systems and is a core part of graphic design assignments, such as icon design.Īs is the case with problems from other fields, the visual representation of concepts has also been addressed using computational approaches. The visual representation of concepts has been the focus of multiple studies throughout history and is considered to be behind the origin of existing writing systems.
